A dramatic Matchweek 17 saw Arsenal reclaim top spot, Liverpool survive a Spurs implosion, and Erling Haaland make Premier League history. Here's everything that happened on Saturday.
Arsenal 1-0 Everton (Away)
Viktor Gyökeres converted a 27th-minute penalty after Jake O'Brien's blatant handball from a corner. Arsenal dominated possession but hit the woodwork twice through Trossard and Zubimendi. VAR controversially denied Everton a spot-kick when Saliba appeared to kick Thierno Barry. Gunners back on top at Christmas.
Manchester City 3-0 West Ham
Erling Haaland scored twice to surpass Cristiano Ronaldo's Premier League goal tally (104 goals in 122 fewer games). Tijjani Reijnders added the third. City have now scored 11 and conceded zero in their last four matches. Title race very much alive.
Liverpool 2-1 Tottenham
Spurs self-destructed at Anfield. Xavi Simons red-carded after 33 minutes for a reckless challenge on Van Dijk. Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike scored for Liverpool before Richarlison's late consolation. Cristian Romero also sent off in stoppage time. Major concern: Isak limped off injured after scoring. Slot admits "gut feeling" is not good.
Newcastle 2-2 Chelsea
Blues came from two goals down to salvage a point at St James' Park. Chelsea have now won just one of their last five Premier League matches. Newcastle remain stuck in mid-table despite strong Champions League form.
Wolves 0-2 Brentford
Keane Lewis-Potter scored both goals as Wolves matched Sheffield United's unwanted record of 17 games without a win from the start of a Premier League season. Ten straight league defeats for the bottom side. Relegation looking increasingly inevitable.
Bournemouth 1-1 Burnley
Antoine Semenyo scored Bournemouth's goal as Burnley ended a seven-game losing streak with a valuable point. Transfer target Semenyo continues to attract interest from top clubs.
Brighton 0-0 Sunderland
Goalless draw at the Amex. Sunderland held firm despite being without several key players ahead of AFCON departures.
Sunday's Fixture
Aston Villa vs Manchester United (4:30pm GMT) - Villa seek a tenth straight home win. United without Mbeumo, Amad and Mazraoui due to AFCON.
