Overview
Ipswich Town Football Club, a historic club from Suffolk in England, returned to the Premier League in 2024 after 22 years away. Founded in 1878, the Tractor Boys (or simply Town) play their matches at Portman Road and wear blue and white colors. The club experienced their golden age in the 1970s-80s under the legendary Bobby Robson.
Ipswich Town won the English championship in 1962 and the UEFA Cup in 1981, remarkable achievements for a medium-sized club. The Blues also won the FA Cup in 1978. This glorious period established Ipswich as one of the respected clubs in English football. Portman Road, the club's emblematic stadium since 1884, has been the scene of many memorable European nights.
The club maintains intense rivalries with Norwich City (Old Farm Derby) and clubs from the East Anglia region. Ipswich represents Suffolk pride and has maintained a loyal supporter base despite two decades away from the elite. The return to the Premier League marks a renaissance for the Tractor Boys.
